Well I cannot believe another year has come and gone! This is the time of the year that we reflect on our years past and make plans for the next years future. I am so proud to be where I am in my life at the moment. I am surrounded by love, friendship and inspiration! As a father I am so proud of my three children. Watching them grow up and become beautiful human beings is awe-inspiring to say the least. I am blessed to work with Elizabeth every day and live the same life from sunrise to sundown. Most people couldn't imagine working with their spouse but Elizabeth and I know it's a treat. I married my best friend so going through the good times and the hard times together makes it a little easier in this crazy world.
Me being the Artist I am constantly striving for new and creative ideas, keeps me striving for positive experiences in my life and my business. Lately I have been reminded of how important my past is to my present. Just this week two of my past brides brought their newborn babies in for pictures. I still think it's the coolest thing in the world how the circle of my business continues. Every single action, every day creates future opportunities that are yet to come.
2015 was the year of restructuring something good into something great! We started a second company called Red Leaf Weddings which caters to the bride on more of the conservative side. Our lead photographer Mike Lirette has been a fantastic addition to our teams. I have always looked for heart in a person not just the creative talents and Mike lives it through and through.
You can visit Red Leaf at www.redleafweddings.comAlso in 2015 I had the pleasure of doing a styled shoot on the campus of Yale with the lovely and talented Valerie Gernhauser, owner of Sapphire Events.
Yale's campus is absolutely exquisite with the old architecture and traditions of the campus. Valerie had a reunion that weekend, so it was super cool of her to also schedule a photo shoot the day before and it was totally worth it!
I absolutely love getting opportunities to photograph events in other states such as Colorado. Since we had a wedding in Colorado, I scheduled a styled shoot for the day before and was able to work with a florist and 2 fabulous models. All of my styled photo shoots for publication and personal projects are usually photographed with film. Film just has a nostalgic look and texture to an image that Digital does not produce. Since I have so many years of working with film it only makes sense to use all the tools I have acquired over the years.
A 2015 was also the year of staying positive about everything in our life. Tomorrow me and the family will be working on our dream boards for 2016. Before I married Elizabeth I had no idea of what A dream board was until I met her father Jesse. For years I thought his actions were kind of silly but when you started to see all of his actions come into fruition you start to wonder if I should be doing the same. Needless to say when ever something negative happens to me Jessie usually has a positive spin that just seems to make more sense. My parents are super supportive and always helping me see the bigger picture as well. So getting the positive spin on both sides truly helps on days when you need it the most. I can very easily say how much both parents mean to Elizabeth and I with raising our children and helping our business grow in a positive and healthy way. If you were curious about attracting more positive and healthy actions in your life then you must visit Jessie's website called www.positivepops.com So now I must go and clean our house and get it ready for our New Year's eve party! I pray the rain holds out in time for the fireworks but I know the time spent with family and friends will be wonderful. For all of you who allow me to take part in your life and capture the events that are important to you I thank you sincerely from the bottom of my heart! I hope you have a safe and wonderful New Year and all of your dreams come true… Like mine. :)
