I have always loved the many different ways you can train your eyes to look at things. I always back off from my subject just enough to look like I'm catching you in the moment. The top image was exactly that! The bottom image was after I ran inside and showed them were I would like to see them standing just talking to each other. The most direction I gave was talk to each other then "Show Me The Love" between you two. :)
Perspective is one of the hardest things to learn as a photographer. Tell yourself to shoot all around your subject. This will force you to see the angles that are not presented to you at the moment. Doing this action is how I "Find" the shot. Even if you are photographing your kids at home. Get out of their faces and back up to get the scene. You'll be surprised how different your photography will look once you "Find the Shot!"
