Yesterday this lovely lady came to our studio for a promotional headshot. Her name is Elizabeth Riggs D.D.S., owner of Elizabeth Riggs Dentistry. You can visit her web site here. When I have someone in front of me for a head shot, it's all about facial expressions. Getting natural looking expressions comes from the working relationship between me and my subject. Basically I love making someone laugh and helping them forget about the outside world for a few minutes. Head shots are so important for the individual because they are usually required for job interviews, auditions, social media and even business cards. Even a politician needs an excellent head shot to represent him or her in their best likeness. Talk about a "Make it" or "Break it" image!
I have always said, "The camera is just a tool I use to communicate with people."
If you are a fellow photographer, remember the true importance of the simple head shot.
