Shannon and I spoke about the timeline of her wedding day and I was so pleasantly surprised to see what she had created. At first when I saw the 3 hours between the ceremony and the reception I was wondering what could we do, where could we go? My mind went crazy on ideas and locations. As the wedding got closer she added more time to her reception for a total of 5 hours. "It's our wedding day and I want to experience as much of it as we can", Shannon said! I couldn't agree more! I'm exhausted of always feeling rushed so this timeline was perfect for me and the wedding celebration. Guests came from out of town and the extended timeline created a relaxing experience for everyone who attended. I asked Shannon to write me a paragraph about her timeline so I could include it in a blog post. I told her all brides must read about your experience and decide for themselves which timeline is best for them. The following is from Shannon.
Shannon Stromberg: We absolutely knew we wanted to get married at Holy Name of Jesus and have the reception at The Chicory. We were a little worried in the beginning that they only dates and times that worked would be a 1:00 wedding and an evening reception. However, it could not have worked out any better! We planned for the reception to start at 5:00 which gave us the perfect amount of time in between the ceremony and reception. We were able to relax and take our time getting photos at the church and Audubon Park. We never felt stressed or rushed and it allowed for George to get creative and get some really awesome shots! It was also great to have those few hours to relax and celebrate with our wedding party. Some of my favorite shots are the candid ones of all of us in the park! After pictures, we had the perfect amount of time to go back to the hotel and change shoes, bustle my dress, and take a minute to just breathe and enjoy the moment with my family! An added bonus was that our guests and bridal party members all commented that they loved the break! It allowed them to explore the city a bit, check in on kids and babysitters, or simply just relax and have a drink at the hotel bar! We may have been a little nervous about the break in the beginning, but now it's something I would absolutely recommend all couples doing if they can!
